After enjoying them for a month, I've come to the conclusion that the McGavock Wingtip Boot by Johnston & Murphy is the boot every guy needs for his upscale wardrobe. This is by far one of the most versatile boots I have owned. They are a major upgrade from the average chukka, or Clark's Desert Boot. The beautifully detailed wingtip style has a refined look that can be worn with either your slim-fitting dress pants, or with your favorite pair of jeans. I would recommend pairing them with dark indigo slim-fitting jeans.
This boot has been beautifully crafted of luxurious leather, stitched together with great detail and care. The leather/rubber sole provides the look of a traditional hard-bottom shoe, with the functionality and grip of a rubber-soled boot. Along with the functionality of this hybrid sole comes a significant increase in comfort, compared to a traditional all-leather, hard-bottomed sole. Since receiving the McGavocks, I have worn them day-in and day-out with great ease. I've walked from boardrooms, to downtown coffee shops, to cobblestone streets, without missing a beat.
